Sirdar’s Curly Wurly yarn caught my eye

Most of the fun yarns done with tufts of color or excess strands in eyelash style is that so many of them are done with very bright colorways – think hot pinks, bright blues, oranges and yellows – and so many of them have strands of something sparkly or shiny running throughout. I think Sirdar’s new Curly Wurly caught my eye because it is not those things, at least not with some of their new colorways.

The three plainer colorways are Celeste (blue), Charcoal (greys) and Cinnamon (brown).

They have several patterns that take advantage of these muted shades as well here on the Sirdar website.

Gauge for 4″x4″ (10cm x 10cm) is 14 rows by 11 stitches on 6.5mm. Balls are 50 grams / 50 metres.

Knitting needles with built-in rulers

If you are like me, then you have probably been knitting only to discover that your house has swallowed yet another mini tape measure, never to be seen again. These knitting needles are designed for people like me, and actually have measurements right on the knitting needles themselves.

They are only available in four sizes right now – and each comes in their own funky colors – in sizes 6, 7, 8 and 9. Unfortunately for us metric measuring knitarellas, they don’t have either metric needles sizes or metric measurements on the needles. In fact, I don’t mind so much about the metric measurements, but I always have to look up needle sizes if metric isn’t stamped on them.

They do seem to ship outside the US, but you have to contact them for shipping charges. But I think these needles are cool enough to warrant a mention, and if I come across them in my knitting store travels, I will probably pick up a pair. Available online at KnitStix.
